I’ve Been Served; Now What?

When one party files a lawsuit against another, they must personally serve the person they are suing. Service can be accomplished via sheriff, constable, or private process server. Once you have been served, you generally have twenty days to respond to the suit or risk being found in default.

If you have been served with a lawsuit, whether it is for a civil or family matter, it is imperative that you seek legal counsel as soon as possible to review the paperwork and develop a strategy to defend yourself. If you have been served, we welcome you to schedule a consultation to review your options.
